Description | Human figure, holding with both hands an object of indeterminate nature against its breast. The short, straight nose proceeding directly from under a fez-like cap, and the mouth curving upwards at the corners resemble closely the corresponding features of the chalk figures of ancestors from this region, to which there is also a general resemblance in style. The figure stands with slightly bent knees, upon a plinth carved from the same piece of wood as the figure. It is said to be an "ancestral figure." |
