Description | Brown ware. Flattened base; depressed globular body; short concave neck; rim thickened exteriorly, beveled. Base and lower body impressed with long, narrow stamp; upper body ribbed vertically with excised zigzag heading. "This is a typical specimen of the pottery made by the New England Indians. Vessels of this pattern were often much larger, but variation from this form was limited." -- Old label. |
