Description | Complete except for part of neck and handle which are restored in plaster. Underside and edge of foot reserved. Top of foot and lower wall black glazed. Rest of wall and shoulder to lower neck unglazed and once completelty covered with white ground of which much has peeled away. Rest of neck, lip, and handle black glazed or painted black in restoration. On wall remains of a scene in black glaze lined and bands. to left a male(?) figure (large foot and ankle); to right a female figure facing inward toward a grave stele, each extending hands in which is a fillet. Male has a staff resting diagonally against base of stele. Stele has palmettes above, a band of quirks next below and on broad stele itself a pair of rosettes which support a suspended fillet. Stele on 3 steps. |
