Description | Circular name tablet, hopae (호패). The bearer of this type of hopae is supposed to be attached to the Board of War. Beginning at the right and reading from top to bottom, his occupation is given, standard bearer followed by the name, age (24 years), that he is attached to the garrison of the Capital, and that he lives in the Western District. His height is four feet (Korean measurement) his face is full and beardless, and without moles or birthmarks. On the opposite side is the name of one of his relatives, who acts as security for him, and to the left is the date of issue. The originals have the seal burned in the back. |
