Description

"Scholars in a Spring Garden" or "Festival in Garden". Artist unknown. The painter seems to be knowledgeable of two paintings, Han Huang's 韓滉 ( 723 - 787 CE) "Four Scholars in a Garden" and Qiu Ying's 仇英 (1494 - 1552 CE) "Gathering of Spring Night in a Peach and Pear Garden". This painting is a mixture of the two. Formerly in the collection of John Calvin Ferguson (1866 - 1945 CE).
