Description | Brocade on balanced ground weave, floats visible on reverse. Cotton and silk. Warp and weft stripes, diamonds, birds, stars, plants. Mostly red ground with yellow, green, white, purple and pink. Selvedges and ends finished. Good condition, small holes, slight stains. Paper tag #12. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 28 epi, single, Z twist, red and white cotton and two singles, yellow, blue and green cotton. Weft: 44 ppi, single, Z twist, red and white cotton and two singles, yellow, blue and green cotton. Balanced plain weave. Supplementary weft is two faced. One panel, four selvedges. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
