Tile, 15 tiles. Mihrab design with floral center and border.

"Polychrome under transparent glaze. Panels of this kind covered walls, columns, and mihrabs (niches or decorative panels designating the direction to Mecca) of many late 16th and 17th century Ottoman mosques. These tiles were manufactured to order in Iznik, the premier ceramic production location of the period. This tile panel, whose original height has not been preserved, most likely comes from an Istanbul mosque."
