Griffin. Tongue, ears, and knob at top of head cut off; a hole in the side of the neck at the right behind the lower jaw. Hollow cast; some of the core (?) still in place at the lower opening. Outward turned flange at bottom of neck, pierced by three round holes for attachment to shoulder of cauldron. The entire surface except immediately above the flange covered with impressed (hammered?) curved indentations to indicate scales. Usual griffin type with beak and protruding tongue, high ears, knob at top of head, and S curved neck. Dark green patina.
