Like the Egyptians, the Phoenicians used carved stones shaped like scarab beetles as amulets and to seal baskets, jars, and documents. This steatite scarab is inscribed with the name of 22nd Dynasty King, Hedjkheperre Setepenre (Sheshonq I).
