Description | Sommerville: Antique iridescent glass. A Nymph's head. Second century. Antique Pastes, Case VVV. Vermeule: Antique iridescent glass. Cameo. (Unmounted) Head of Aphrodite or a nymph facing; raised or Tondo-like medallic rim running around. The eyes appear to have been inlaid or at least touched with gold paint. The style of the hair suggests early IIIrd century A.D. interpretation of a Hellenistic design. |
