Description | Strips of bark stitched together to form a 7.5 cm. wide headband with a 4 cm. wide strip projecting upward from the center of the forehead. Headband decorated with sewn-on shells: three flowers, each consisting of six greenish cowries, and four pairs of larger brown cowries, all surrounded by tiny orange snails. Upward projecting strip faced with tufts of plant fiber. Hanging from the sides of the headband, two pendants of small white seeds, large black seeds, and fiber tassels. Part of a dance costume made for sale to tourists. |
