Description | Bucchero; molded and tooled. Trefoil-mouthed, ovoid body, slender neck, low flared foot. Three pairs of relief sphinxes on body, pegasos torsos and pendants on shoulder, palmette rondels, grooves and bands on neck and below sphinxes, and relief warrior on handle. Fabric: dark gray, fine-grained core with white inclusions. Surface abaded with low gloss. Uneven firing. Condition: yellow incrustation on neck and rim. Restoration with plaster and gray paint on rim, body, and handle. Three pieces missing. Technique: thrown in sections in a jigger on the wheel. |
