Description | Three panels, each composed of 4 selvedges. Neck not cut out. Side panels are white cotton; middle panel is red cotton with red, yellow, green, white, blue weft brocade. Motifs: Bird-on-a-plant, zig-zag lines, diamond, cross. As per Sigrid Meier, "Center warp: 28 epi two single Z-twist red cotton. Side warp: 30 epi two single Z-twist white cotton. Center weft: 25 ppi two single Z-twist red cotton. Side weft: 30 ppi two single Z-twist white cotton. Balanced plain weave. Supplementary weft: two-faced, 5 single Z-twist cotton in white, red, green, yellow and blue. Made on a backstrap loom." |
