Description | Sommerville: Carnelian. Concordia. This stone has been injured by fire. Gold Rings - Intaglios, Case HHH. Vermeule: Burnt Sard. Intaglio. (Modern gold [reset] ring setting) A Roman male and female figures standing facing each other and clasping right hands. She places her left hand on his shoulder. The scene is one encountered on Roman sarcophagi of late IInd - IIIrd A.D. Symbolizes marital bliss and virtue concordia. Graeco-Roman, late. |
