Description | Lekythos. Intact except for missing neck, lip, and most of handle from root up. Fpoot unglazed underneath. On lower part of edge of foot a wheel glazed band. Top of foot and lower well glazed except for 3 wheel-incised (?) lines below scene. Scene, in black glaze: to l. an armed warrior (shield and spear) advances toward right toweard an armed cavalryman ion center, also advancing to right. He in turn attacks an infantryman (sgield and spear) advancing toward him from right. Above, a maeander pattern bordered nbelow by two lines. On shoulder, two rows of vertical dashes. On underside of base: "TX" (possible for Tomb X?). |
