Description | One of two identical pieces in size and decoration except that in one one element of the decoration (bird) is missing. Each piece has as its base a thin, rectangular sheet of gold rolled up on the 2 short ends to form a very thin tube for threading. Each tube has very fine, closely spaced, horizontal grooving. The remaining decoration is free standing on the plaque. Parallel to each tube is a rabbit, prone, and a palmette. In the center of the plaque is a large flower. On one a bird is preserved, perched on the center of the flower. the original catalog card suggests these were for a girdle or tiara. Identical to MS3368a-e. |
