Description | Plain. Red ware; spherical body; tulip neck; two vertical loop handles on body. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, bulging neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. There are no molded/modeled additions and no decoration. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Evidence of usewear includes possible ancient repairs. There is a brown resinous material around the hole and over the crack in the body. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1128c." |
