Description | Cofradia huipil in one panel with a single piece of red cotton sewn to each side. Cut out square neck. Brocaded shoulders and center, front and back with red and lavender cotton in designs of animals, double headed birds, plants and geometric figurres. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp white: 36 epi, single Z twist, white cotton. Warp red: 52 epi, two singles, Z twist, red cotton. Weft: 26 ppi, single, Z twist, white cotton. Warp predominantly plain weave. Supplementary weft is two faced. Three selvedges. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
