Description | Round, wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted white with red lines indicating hair and red circles under the eyes. The eyes and mouth are "U" shaped with a circle in the center of each. The top and back of head are painted black. A painted blanket is draped over the shoulders with a painted dress underneath. This figure is the Mother of Katsinam, Hahai-i Wuhti. (Colton, H. 1959 #44, Wright, B., 1973 #60) |
