Description | Rectangular body; elliptical in section, made of bamboo or re-formed strip of longitudinally striated wood sheathing. Neck, tailpiece, tuning pegs, and top and bottom of body made from wood. Neck, peg box, and scroll carved from one piece of wood. Four strings of vegetable fiber cord. Multicolored wool ‘pompoms’ on tailpiece, on either side of neck at top of body, and on top of scroll. Dangling tassel with another pompon attached to scroll. Iron nails used to connect body sheathing to wooden top and bottom. Phillipines: Bagobo Exhibited at the Louisiana Purchase Exhibition, St. Louis 1904. |
