Description

Sample of outer bark from nunu lero (Ficus sp.: probably ficus infectoria), a tree from which bark for cloth is obtained. (See 87-8-1, -2, -4, -7, -8, -9, -10, -11, -13.) The outer bark is discarded, not used for brakcloth. Strip of greyish bark, with short transverse striations reminiscent of those on burch bark. Folded over once. Included with sample: shreds of inner bark and fourteen ovate leaves, originally attached to accompanying twig.
