Description
Wooden Katsina doll carved from one piece of wood. The head is conical and painted green with rectangular eyes and an inverted triangle mouth. The ears are painted flower blossoms, feathers and red hair. A colorful blanket is worn over the shoulders and a kilt around the waist. A staff is carried in one hand and a gourd in the other. This figure is the Lieutenant Katsina, Aholi. Made by Manuel Kooyahoema. (Colton, H. 1959 #8, Wright, B., 1973 #19)
