Description | Huipil of red plain weave cotton with a double line of brown pin stripes repeated throughout fabric. Two breadths joined by randas of varicolored silk threads in magenta, aqua, blue, white and yellow. Heavily embroidered around neck in flower and scallop pattern. As per Cherri Pancake, "Highly starched cotton, not wool." As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 50 epi, red is three singles and Z twist, brown is one single and Z twist. Weft: 13 ppi, four singles, Z twist. Warp faced plain weave. Two panels, four selvedges each, sides hemmed with randa. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
