Description | Hammered bronze object originally in the shape of a truncated cone with a carination and near vertical rim (probably similar to lower part of 67-39-23). Now crushed and distorted. Three repousse ridges up from rim. Just below the upper edge are two rows of rivet holes on centers alternating checkerboard fashion; this should have been a means of attaching the upper part of the helmet, either a point or a knob as 67-39-23. Brinze at upper edge much thinner than lower. Uneven green patina, light gray-brown incrustation on outisde. |
