Description | Arrowpoint (石鏃) or point. Tip of point and one barb missing. Concave end with two long barbs. Retouched on both sides. Translucent obsidian with dark streaks. This is one of three arrowheads, 13183, 13196 and 13201, which not only have concave bases but are waisted at the center section. The tangs at the end are exagerated. This special charateristic may simply be a variant of the bifacially retouched arrowheads with concave bases which have been found throughout Japan and can be dated to the Jomon and Yayoi Periods. |
