Description | One of a pair of man's moccasins with rawhide soles and buckskin uppers, stained yellow. Tongue not separate, but cut with combination of Y and T types. Beaded circumferal and ankle bands and twin longitudinal stripes formed by small squares set cornerwise. Between the stripes the buckskin is painted purple and short buckskin thongs drawn through and strung with tinklers to form a fringe along outer side of moccasins. Long buckskin fringe tied to back seam, Apache borrowing: see note to 97-84-1531. Light and dark blue, red, and white beads. |
