Description

The kachina is identified as a Marao. The Kachina is carved and painted wood with the exception of a leather cuff on the proper left wrist. The proper right hand held an object now missing. The mask of red, blue, yellow, and white has a protruding mouth with sharp teeth, a visor at forehead and tripod headress peaked by two eagle feathers. Two additional feathers adorn the back of the head. The male torso is blue with white lightning designs on chest and arms, a green kilt with zigzag motif in red and yellow, a crudely painted belt of bells or conchos, brown moccasins with white soles, and brown fox pelt at back.

Paint colors: white, black, red, yellow, green, blue, brown, light blue, orange.
