Description | The object is identified as a Hopi Nataska or Ogre Kachina made of carved painted wood. The figure has two horns, protruding eyes and an elongated mouth. There are feathers on the top and back of the head and tied to the horns. The proper right (PR) hand holds a saw and a leather “cloak” is tied around the chest of the figure. Accessories are added on both wrists, the upper PL arm and on the PL leg. Paint colors: white, black, gray, brown, turquoise, red, green, blue, red/ orange. |
