Description

The object is identified as a plant kachina also known as the Hopi Laguna Gambler. The Kachina is carved painted wood with a domed, yellow and white striped mask, pointed orange beak, velvet brown tunic, and a leather fabric belt. The figure has copper rings in its ears, a ruff made of corn husk, and has eleven main feathers on the back of its head with many other smaller feathers on the top of the head and yarn at the back of the head. On the bottom of the foot proper left – HB Proper right – Swma PX
