Description | Two clown figures identified as snake dance figures with one foot each mounted to a rectangular flat black platform. A snake (made of rope and painted) is also attached to the platform. The figures are carved and painted wood with faces painted white (lower half) and black and downy "breath" feathers and red/orange yarn at top of heads. One figures holds a snake while the other holds brown and white feathers in the proper right (PR) hand. Bodily adornments on both figures include a shell pendant necklace, arm bands, leg ties, shell bandolier, and sash belt with fringe at right hip. |
