Description | Red ware; cat heads knob. Painted geometric design in band on upper body. Upper neck missing. Incasic Narrow-necked jar/bottle (aríbalo, aryballos) with an ovate body, missing neck, missing rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a conical (aribaloid) base. There is a molded/modeled stylized animal head on the body just below the neck. There is painted geometric decoration in red, white, and black over an orange slip. There appears to be a polished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the base and body. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. No other numbers are visible on the object. |
