Description | Palmwood shaft stained red, tapering towards butt. The butt itself is left of about the thickness of the upper part of the shaft. Bamboo point lashed on with split rattan over a piece of palm leaf sheath stained red. The point has been pared down so as to be biconvex in section, and barbs bilaterally paired (7 pairs) cut in the edges. The barbed portion is stained red with white spots. For the tracing of the base of the barb across the face of the point, cf. the arrows 29-89-245, 248, etc. A bunch of cassowary feathers is tied on the shaft. |
