| Description | Clay pipe with wooden stem. Pipe bowl is of reddish-brown clay with a man's face carved into the outside rim. The man's nose is very large and hooked. The bowl of the pipe is larger than the opening for the stem to fit in. The angle between the bowl and the stem opening is very narrow (the pipe shape is a "V" instead of an "L"). The stem is made from a thin branch. about 1.5 cm. thick. Each end has been carved to more of a point. The hole that runs the length of the stem is very narrow. Collected by Fukes in the 1920's. |
