Description | Almost straight, slender blade, slightly ridged; dark grey, minimal pamor; blade base: dentiform frets extending past guard on long end; Sumatra cup: tapering cylindrical socket which receives base of hilt, nicely worked metal, foliage topped with bands of flowers within arches, small pedestal base (Frey 53, 54 Fig 12); high polish on red wood hulu? hilt in form of slightly crouching figure, as from Sumatra or Malay Peninsula (Frey 50-1), with tiny carved gold-lacquered flower on pommel. |
