Description | Two panels joined with faggoting stitch. Brocade on warp faced ground, some floats visible on reverse. Cotton and silk. Warp stripes: horse, women, birds, frogs[?], name Juana in red, yellow white beige and grey. Selvedges finished but sections missing at both sides. folded and stitched at one end, sectios missing from other end. Poor condition, fading tears, fraying, holes. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 74 epi, 2 singles, Z twist, red, blue, yellow cotton. Single, Z twist, white cotton. Weft: 18 ppi, 2 singles, Z twist, red cotton. Warp faced plain weave. Supplemental weft two faced. 2 panels - 3 selvedges each. Made on a backstrap loom." |
