Description

Sommerville: Oriental Jasper. Gordianus Africanus Senior, thirty-first Emperor of Rome. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case X.

Vermeule: Oriental Jasper. Cameo. (Unmounted). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of a Roman IIIrd century A.D. emperor to right. Sommerville identifies him as Gordianus Africanus Senior (238 A.D.) a short-lived and unfortunate Emperor.
