Description | Black-on-Red jug; Incomplete; much of neck and rim broken away; paint and slip badly worn. Light buff fabric, evenly fired; red slip is thin, flaky, brownish and matte; dark brown paint is fugitive. Slightly concave base; ovoid body with greatest diameter at low shoulder toward belly; short concave flaring neck; thin plain rim; vertical handle from neck to shoulder. Traces of black painted bands around shoulder and belly; traces of black paint on handle. |
