Description | Proof of dies on splint. A number of potato dies used in stamping the baskets are included in the collection. Obviously these are not made until it is desired to use them because they soon shrivel if they are exposed to the air for any length of time. The accompanying collection represents approximately the range of variation employed by one woman. Mrs. Michelle Buckshot is the only one known to do this type of work. the two ash strips included show the different stamps. The dies are termed p dukiwap gwun, "potato flowers." |
