Description

Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted green and yellow over the bulging eyes and black over the mouth. The mouth is a black beak with painted teeth. A tuft of feathers is attached to the back of the head. The body is painted red, green and yellow and the waist is covered by a painted kilt. A bow is held in the left hand. This figure is the Long Billed (Wupamo) Whipper Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #41, Wright, B., 1973 #29)
