Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is bisected diagonally by a white and black line into a green and a yellow side. The mouth is a painted, protruding tube. One ear is missing and the other side of the head has feathers and red horse hair. Clouds are painted on the back of the head. The body is painted red, green and yellow and a kilt is painted over the waist. This figure is the Stick (Malo) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #130, Wright, B., 1973 #176) |
