Planning Your Visit

  • Booking timed tickets helps keep transactions contact-free.
    We are limiting the number of visitors in the building to facilitate social distancing, in accordance with city and state protocols.
  • Due to limited capacity, advance reservations are strongly encouraged.
    Reserve your tickets online (members must log in to verify their status and receive free admission) or call 215.898.4001.
  • A two-hour admission window is allotted per timed ticket.
    Guests may enter the Museum at any time during that window and explore the galleries at their own pace.
  • We ask that if you are feeling unwell that you postpone your visit.

Visiting the Museum

Hand washing icon Visitors are asked to follow a one-way route through the galleries, to maximize social distancing—just follow the arrows on the floor.
People maintaining 6 feet distance icon Hand sanitizer and wipe dispenser stations are available throughout the Museum. We have also installed plexiglass barriers in areas where transactions occur.
Caution symbol with a group of people icon Capacity limits for each gallery and public space, based on square footage, are posted throughout the Museum.
Food and drink icon The Museum Café remains closed until indoor dining is permitted by the City. Because water fountains are unavailable for hygiene reasons, visitors are welcome to bring their own bottled water, but no other food or drink is permitted in the Museum. Visitors are welcome to enjoy their own picnics in the Warden Garden, Stoner Courtyard, and Mosaic Courtyard.
Coat room and lockers are not available.

Main Entrance

The Main Entrance (Kamin) is located across the street from Franklin Field on South Street, closest to 33rd Street.

This entrance is wheelchair accessible.

East Entrance

The East Entrance (Kress) is for buses, groups, and the general public. The East entrance is approached from Convention Avenue, not South St.

Courtyard Entrance

The Courtyard Entrance is on South Street and is only open for special events.

Closures and Alerts

Temporary Closures

The Museum or its galleries may occasionally be closed to visitors during exhibition updates, private functions, holiday closures, and other events.

The Penn Museum will reopen to the public on July 28.
